What is a thesis statement for a paper if you're talking about dance and religion in Native American tribes?

im doing a paper on dance and religion in native american tribes, such as the iroquois, pueblo, ottawa, mayans, and aztecs. how should my thesis statement be?|||Nish Kwe just gave you the perfect thesis statement. Let me re-state it in paragraph form for you.

It is a common misconception that native american tribes practiced a religion. Religions are based on the worship of deities. No Native American Nation traditionally used that custom of worship. In my paper I will show how native tribes incorporated their spiritually into their aspects of daily life, including dance, and provide sources to dispel the myth that native tribes practiced a "religion" as understood by European culture."

Now, go do some research, then come back and ask some good questions. There are some every knowledgeable natives here on YA who will give you good answers to an honest question that seeks to change common stereotypes.|||Your thoughts about a connection between dance and religion may be flawed. I am not aware of any Native American religions.

Religions are based on the worship of deities. No Native American Nation I am aware of use the custom of worship.

In my Nation our spirituality is based on relationships and responsibilities. Relationships define how we are related to all of creation, and those relationships define our responsibilities.

Because all of creation is related, everything is spoken of as a relative, such as mother, father, brother or sister. Things older than mankind are spoken of as grandmother or grandfather.

For example Grandmother Moon influences all waters on earth. The moon governs the tides and the menstruation cycle of woman. Menstruation is a time of cleansing and renewal given to woman by Grandmother Moon. Because woman, water and Grandmother Moon have that relationship, women have the responsibility to show respect and give thanks to Grandmother Moon and to the water. Its the woman's responsibility to care for the water.

There are many customs that are related to our responsibilities, but few are solely related to dance.
