I'm lost with the whole seal or expunge thing.?

Canada, Ontario, Ottawa. May 2nd of 2009, Dad involved.

I was caught under the act of theft. Security came took me and a couple of friends, all under 17. We were all given a Notice Prohibiting Entry paper signed, that states we are banned from Walmart premises for 1 year.

The police took our information , said the record will be automatically erased after 2 years.

Then we all left.

Now I'm curious, how does this seal and expunge thing work?

If I'm a young offender, and she said that this is a warning. Does the record actually erase after 2 years? Since she said that to us.

Now if it doesn't erase, what does it mean now? Do I seal or expunge?

What's the difference between seal and expunge?

And if it were to be erased, what does she mean, seal, or expunge?|||If there was only a report made, and you weren't charged with an offense (which is what it sounds like), then you don't have any sort of adjudication on your record.

I don't know what the officer meant by having the report "erased" after 2 years. Perhaps the department keeps a list of people who were warned, so they don't get the same break twice. You might ask the police department about that, because it is their record of their contact with you.|||im a skater and i have gotten plenty of "warnings"

they are rediculose they dont even put it on your record. they just try and scare you.

dont worry. f u c k cops
